COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (TheSportsNEXT) October 7, 2012: West Indies stunned hosts Sri Lanka by 36 runs to win the ICC World Twenty20 2012 at R Premadasa Stadium Sunday.
The victory was attributed to a counterattack by Marlon Samuels (78) who struck six towering sixes after West Indies could manage only 32 runs from first 10 overs.
West Indies finished with 137 for six before their bowlers did the job as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 101 runs from 18.4 overs.
