NEW YORK, United States (TheSportsNEXT) November 8, 2012: The NBA 2013 had a busy night on Wednesday when as many as 13 games were played where Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, and Utah Jazz won their respective games.
On the other hand, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers were stunned while Washington Wizards managed to stretch their game against Boston Celtics into an over-time but failed to keep the energy in the dying moments.
Following are the complete game reports prepared by UPI.
Miami Heat beat Brooklyn Nets 103-73
In Miami, LeBron James came close to a triple double Wednesday in sending Miami rolling over Brooklyn 103-73.
James scored 20 points, had 12 rebounds and added eight assists as part of a dominating effort that led to the Heat's third straight win.
Miami shot 51 percent from the floor and limited the Nets to 3-of-21 from 3-point range.
The Heat held an eight-point cushion at halftime and then broke the game open by outscoring Brooklyn in the third period 29-15.
Dwyane Wade pitched in 22 points for Miami, which finished off a perfect three-game homestand prior to going on the road for six contests in a two-week stretch.
Deron Williams scored 14 points to pace the Nets, but he turned the ball over seven times.
Boston Celtics beat Washington Wizards 100-94 (OT)In Boston, Brandon Bass scored five straight points in a 12-4 run that ended the overtime period Wednesday, lifting Boston to a 100-94 decision over Washington.
The Wizards brought about the extra session when Chris Singleton delivered a dunk shot with 9 seconds to go in the fourth period and Washington took a 90-88 lead in overtime with 3:49 to play.
Boston then seized control with Bass putting the Celtics in front for good by hitting a free throw with 2:21 remaining. He boosted the Boston lead with a layup 25 seconds later and added a dunk with 37 seconds left that gave the Celtics a 97-92 advantage.
Boston won its second straight after losing its first two games of the season. The Wizards began the evening as one of two winless teams in the NBA.
Kevin Garnett had 20 points and 13 rebounds for Boston, which made 28 free throws to just six for the Wizards. Rajon Rondo added 18 and Jason Terry had 16 off the bench.
Washington got 16 points from Bradley Beal.
Dallas Mavericks beat Toronto Raptors 109-104In Dallas, Chris Kaman and O.J. Mayo each had 22 points Wednesday, pushing Dallas to a big lead en route to a 109-104 win over Toronto.
The Mavericks improved to 4-1 with their third straight win, building a 16-point advantage early in the fourth period before the Raptors put on a late charge. The 5-point final margin was the closest Toronto could come down the stretch.
The quick Dallas start has come without the services of star forward Dirk Nowitzki, who might not return until January after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
Dallas has gone through a massive roster turnover with Kaman and Mayo two of the key parts. Vince Carter added 17 points off the bench, Darren Collison added 15 and Brandan Wright had 12.
The Mavericks, who grabbed just one offensive rebound in a win over Portland on Monday, had 10 of them against the Raptors.
Toronto's offensive load was carried by Andrea Bargnani, who scored 24 points.
Utah Jazz beat Los Angeles Lakers 95-86In Salt Lake City, Randy Foye hit three 3-pointers during a key fourth-quarter run Wednesday that sparked Utah to a 95-86 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Los Angeles has opened the season at 1-4, having lost its two road games in addition to suffering two setbacks at home.
The Lakers climbed within 70-67 with 8:27 to go on a dunk shot from Dwight Howard, but Foye then hit his three long-range shots over the next 1:40 to give the Jazz momentum.
Al Jefferson led Utah with 18 points and Foye had 17.
Los Angeles hit just 33 of its field goal attempts and went 4-of-23 from 3-point range. The Lakers stayed in the game by making 32-of-46 from the foul line.
Kobe Bryant was 15-of-17 from the charity stripe and wound up with 29 points for the Lakers. Howard scored 19.
The Utah bench outscored its Los Angeles counterparts 36-12 while snapping a three-game losing streak.
Atlanta Hawks beat Indiana Pacers 89-86In Atlanta, Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague led a stunning comeback Wednesday that brought Atlanta an 89-86 victory over Indiana.
The Pacers took an 83-69 lead with 6:34 to play and then collapsed down the stretch while the Hawks were scoring 18 consecutive points.
Korver had points during the run and Teague added seven, including a driving layup with 32 seconds to go that gave Atlanta an 87-83 advantage.
Indiana finally ended its scoring drought on a 3-point shot from Lance Stephenson with 21 seconds to play, after which Lou Williams delivered a dunk that put Atlanta up by three.
Paul George misfired on a 3-pointer with a second remaining that would have forced overtime.
Atlanta has won 10 in a row at home over the Pacers.
Al Horford scored 16 points to lead the Hawks, Teague had 15 and Korver contributed 13.
George and David West both had 20 points for the Pacers, who were outscored 24-9 in the fourth period. Indiana played the middle contest of a three-game road trip that concludes Friday in Minnesota.
Denver Nuggets beat Houston Rockets 93-87
In Houston, a 21-point effort from Ty Lawson Wednesday boosted Denver to a 10-point lead midway through the fourth period and the Nuggets held on to down Houston 93-87.
Lawson made 3-of-4 of his 3-point attempts and added eight assists. Denver won on the road for the first time in four tries this season.
Kenneth Faried added 16 points and 16 rebounds for Denver while Corey Brewer delivered 14 off the bench.
Houston shot just 36 percent from the field and lost its second straight after opening the campaign with two consecutive wins.
The Rockets were led by Carlos Delfino with 19 points and Patrick Patterson had 18. James Harden, who went over the 40-point mark in his first two games and was averaging a league-best 35.3 per contest, scored 15.
Golden State Warriors beat Cleveland Cavaliers 106-96In Oakland, California, David Lee hit 10-of-16 shots and sparked a late third-quarter run Wednesday that carried Golden State to a 106-96 victory over Cleveland.
Lee was one of seven Warriors in double figures and Golden State shot 53 percent from the field in boosting its record to 3-2.
The Warriors were trailing by 3 midway through the third period but closed the quarter on a 17-6 run. Cleveland came no closer than 8 points in the fourth.
Lee scored 22 points and had 14 rebounds, Stephen Curry added 21 for the Kings and Carl Landry contributed 19 points and nine boards.
The Cavaliers, who have three more to play on a cross-country road trip that will conclude in Brooklyn next Tuesday, were led by Kyrie Irving with 28 points.
Los Angeles Clippers beat San Antonio Spurs 106-84
In Los Angeles, Blake Griffin's double-double and Los Angeles' 55 percent shooting Wednesday brought the Clippers a runaway 106-84 victory over San Antonio.
The Spurs, who embarked on a four-game western trip, lost for the first time this season after winning their opening four contests. Milwaukee and New York are the only teams left with perfect records.
Griffin scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds. DeAndre Jordan added 21 points and Eric Bledsoe had 15. The Clippers made 46-of-83 shots from the field and outrebounded the Spurs 46-29.
Los Angeles owned a six-point lead at halftime, then outscored San Antonio by 14 in the third period.
Danny Green's 12 points were the most for any member of the Spurs. Tim Duncan had 10.
Memphis Grizzlies beat Milwaukee Bucks 108-90
In Milwaukee, Zach Randolph keyed a strong Memphis shooting performance Wednesday that vaulted the Grizzlies to a 108-90 triumph over Milwaukee.
Memphis won its third straight following a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers to open the season.
The Grizzlies opened a 13-point halftime lead and did not allow the Bucks any closer than nine during the final two quarters. Memphis hit 53 percent of its field goal attempts with Randolph going 7-of-12 while scoring 18 points.
Marreese Speights also had 18 points off the bench and Rudy Gay added 17.
Milwaukee suffered its first loss of the season, preventing what would have been the first 3-0 start for the Bucks in seven years.
Brandon Jennings led the Bucks with 19 points and Monta Ellis had 15 while Milwaukee was being held to 38 percent shooting.
Memphis took control with a 13-0 run that spanned the first two quarters.
Minnesota Timberwolves beat Orlando Magic 90-75In Minneapolis, Luke Ridnour led the way with 19 points Wednesday and Minnesota broke things open in the fourth quarter to defeat Orlando 90-75.
Ridnour made 6-of-9 shots from the field in helping the Timberwolves defeat the Magic for the first time in eight tries.
Minnesota improved to 3-1 and is in the unfamiliar position of leading the Northwest Division.
Orlando was within four points late in the third period, but Minnesota rushed to a 23-point advantage midway through the fourth quarter.
Derrick Williams contributed 14 points for the Timberwolves and Greg Stiemsma had 12.
Orlando has lost two in a row after starting the year with two wins. JJ Redick paced the Magic with 16 points. Orlando hit 16-of-20 from the foul line, but made only 28-of-80 from the field.
Philadelphia 76ers beat New Orleans Hornets 77-62In New Orleans, Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner both had 14 points Wednesday while sending Philadelphia on a third-quarter surge that brought about a 77-62 win over New Orleans.
The Hornets led by one at the break, but Philadelphia outscored New Orleans 21-10 in the third period and held on to snap a two-game skid.
Philadelphia hit a mere 4-of-22 from 3-point range, shot 41 percent overall and went to the foul line only five times while hitting three.
Holiday added 12 assists and Turner chipped in eight rebounds.
The 76ers limited to New Orleans to 23 field goals for the game and dropped the Hornets to 2-2. New Orleans played without No. 1 draft choice Anthony Davis, who has not seen action since suffering a concussion in the second game of the campaign.
Al-Farouq was the only New Orleans player in double figures with 10 points. He pulled down 16 rebounds.
Phoenix Suns beat Charlotte Bobcats 117-110In Charlotte, Shannon Brown led three players past the 20-point mark Wednesday in helping Phoenix fight off a second-half comeback and defeat Charlotte 117-110.
Brown scored 24 points off the bench while Marcin Gortat produced 23 and Michael Beasley 21. Beasley added 15 rebounds and Gortat pulled down 10.
The Suns had lost their previous two outings and won on the road for the first time this year.
Phoenix opened a 16-point lead during the latter half of the third quarter, but the Bobcats rallied to tie it early in the fourth. The Suns then pulled away with Gortat's two free throws giving Phoenix an eight-point cushion in the final minute.
Byron Mullens paced the Bobcats with 24 points.
The teams combined to attempt 50 3-point shots with Phoenix going 12-of-28. The Suns shot 46 percent from the field overall and outrebounded Charlotte 49-39.
It was just the third game of the season for the Bobcats and they have lost two of them.
Sacramento Kings beat Detroit Pistons 105-103
In Sacramento, Jimmer Fredette's two free throws with 21 seconds to play gave Sacramento a 4-point lead Wednesday and the Kings went on to defeat Detroit 105-103.
The Pistons have lost all of their five games this season and remain one of two winless clubs in the NBA. Washington fell to 0-3 earlier in the evening.
Detroit trailed from the middle of the first period to the end of the game, but the Pistons stayed close throughout and were within two points after Brandon Knight's 3-pointer with 28 seconds left.
Fredette's foul shots put Detroit up by four and a missed 3-point attempt by Kyle Singler with 10 seconds remaining ended the Pistons' hopes.
DeMarcus Cousins hit a free throw for Sacramento and Rodney Stuckey hit a 3-pointer for the Pistons with 2 seconds left to round out the scoring.
Cousins led the Kings with 21 points and was one of seven Sacramento players in double figures. Isaiah Thomas and Tyreke Evans both had 15.
Sacramento won for the second time in five games with all three of its losses having come on the road.
Knight and Greg Monroe both had 21 for the Pistons, who are four games into an early-season, six-game road trip that will continue with visits to Oklahoma City and Houston.
