LONDON, England (TheSportsNEXT) October 4, 2012: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday accepted an apology by the controversial batsman Kevin Pietersen.

The green-signal has paved the way for the hard-hitting former England captain to return into England fold.

Kevin Pietersen had developed differences with the ECB in a row over provocative text messages against his teammates during South Africa series.

Former England captain Andrew Strauss had announced retirement after the row and ECB statement said that Pietersen had apologized to Strauss.

Kevin Pietersen is likely to return into England side for the tour of India later this year.
