KARACHI, Pakistan (TheSportsNEXT) November 18, 2012: Media Eleven defeated Administrators Eleven by two wickets to clinch the Karachi City Games 2012’s cricket event in Bahadurabad on Saturday night.
Teams of Sports Journalists Association Sindh (SJAS) and Chief Officers Eleven were struck out of the tournament in semi-final matches.
Professional Ejaz Ahmed Farooqui, Secretary Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) was Chief Guest for Semi-Final matches while Director News at Samaa TV Zahid Hussain and Advisor to Chairman Samaa TV Khurram Bari distributed prizes after the final match.
Batting first in the final, Administrators Eleven were bowled out for 51 runs. Media Eleven kept in the hunt till the final minute as they reached the target off the final delivery of the innings and won the match and title by two wickets. Fawad Zaidi scored unbeaten 15 runs for the Media Eleven.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, Ejaz Farooqui said that it was nice to see journalists in action in cricket ground and he has always relished his long association with the media.
He expressed his hope that sports journalists will utilize their abilities and talent to highlight the issues facing young cricketers.
President City Sports Association, Aslam Khan, said on the occasion that he was thankful to SJAS and other journalist friends for supporting the Karachi City Games and other sporting events in the biggest metropolis of the country.
He announced to hold the cricket event after every two months so as to cement association with the sports journalists.
Secretary General Sports Journalists Association Sindh, Ubaid ur Rehman Awan, told the gathering that SJAS has always put on priority the service of local sports and highlighting the sports activities on media.
He expressed his resolve to keep joining hands with the sports federations and organizations for uplifting the sports activities and give due coverage to the local sports events in the mainstream media.
