South Asian oldest living cricketer Madhav Mantri turns 91

NEW DELHI (TheSportsNext) September 2, 2012: Former Indian Test wicketkeeper Madhav Mantri, who is the oldest living cricketer in the South Asian countries, turned 91 on Saturday as tributes poured in from the cricketing world.

Madhav Mantri is now the fifth oldest living cricketer in the world as Norman Gordon (6^th August, 1911) of South Africa is the oldest living cricketer in the world as he is 101 years and 26 days old.

Second in the list is Lindsay Tuckett (6^thFebruary, 1919) of South Africa, who is now 93 years and 208 days old, followed by Reg T Simpson (27^th February, 1920) of England who is 92 years and 197 days old, and Andy Ganteaume (22^nd January, 1921) of West Indies who is 91 years and 223 days old.

Madhav Mantri has a huge share in the Indian cricket as he not only served the country as cricket player but also performed duties as national selector and President of Mumbai Cricket Association.
