LONDON (TheSportsNext) August 30, 2012: Mick Kirkbright, a cricket umpire, was hit by a flying cricket ball on Tuesday but the brave official was back in action on Wednesday after getting discharged by the hospital authorities.

The incident occurred at Marske where he was officiating a match and all of a sudden a long-range throw by Jonny Weighell of Stokesley struck him at the back of his skull and he was down on the ground.

The first aid squad rushed to the center where they tried taking care of the Kirkbright but later it was decided to take him to the nearby hospital by ambulance where he was provided the necessary medial aid.

However, Mick Kirkbright’s love for the game of cricket was evident by the way he returned to officiate matches on Wednesday and he had nothing but praise for all who helped him get off the block.

He told this scribe that doctors were quite impressed to notice that the blood flow had stopped when they first examined him. “I thought I might need stitches, but he glued the cut. I didn’t realise my head was full of wood!”, Mick Kirkbright added in a funny tone.
