NEW YORK, United States (TheSportsNEXT) October 4, 2012: America’s most successful Olympic athlete and record-breaking swimmer Michael Phelps has returned to his hometown Baltimore but very few know people about it.
The Baltimore Sun reported the other day that Michael Phelps, who grew up in the Towson area of north Baltimore, has got himself a loft in his childhood town.
Michael Phelps is yet to make a public announcement or media statement about his new loft in the promising locality of Canton neighborhood but people living in the area have confirmed it to the daily that they get to see the Olympic record gold medalist very often these days.
Michael Phelps has reportedly patronized neighborhood watering holes as well, the daily added.
As per the details of the property, an anonymous trust purchased the loft for about 1.3 million US dollars in February this year and physical address of the trust happens to be that of Octagon Sports Management which is associated with Michael Phelps.
It is merit mentioning here that the world’s fastest swimmer had purchased a house in the Fells Point neighborhood back in 2007 for around 1.69 million US dollars which he sold in July for 1.25 million US dollars.
Michael Phelps’ loft comprises of two industrial buildings which were built in late 19th and early 20th centuries while a developer named Andrew McQuaid renovated the property in 2011 when he had his hands on it for about eight years.
The son of a Maryland state trooper, Michael Phelps grew up in Towson, which is located north of Baltimore. He was part of the US swim team for Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics where he won a total of 22 medals, out of which 18 were gold medals, which is a world record to-date.
